Some Of My Favorite Salsa Performances
If I had to pick just two of the early performances and the dancers that inspired me the most when I was just starting out here are they.
Here is one of the early performances that I saw even before youtube on the club mayan website that really inspired me to become better by Alex Da Silva and Liz Lira (Even though the music is retrofitted to the dance later and the music does not correspond to the dancing).
And here is the second performance that I saw long time ago that amazed me by
Edie “The Salsa Freak” and Al Liquid Silver (On1). Many would say that these guys came up with the most entertaining salsa performances at the time!
Then for further inspiration was seeing guys like Cristian Oviedo social dancing with beautiful women like Serena Cuevas. Watch them social dancing with great musicality and presence.
Then as I got better as a dancer and I begun to understand more about musicality and body movement I started to also appreciate wider range of performances. Here is one example of a very musical piece filled with beautiful body movement by Ana and Joel Masacote performing Take Five.
In 2007 I had an opportunity to go to the World Salsa Championships. From there my three favorite routines were 1st the elegant, beautiful, and classy routine by Luis Aguilar and Anya Katsevman from San Francisco and New York (the current On2 world champions)
And the sharp, crystal clean, and musical winning routine on the On2 division by Oliver Pineda and Luda Kroiter (The 2007 On2 World Champions) from Sydney, Australia
And the amazing jaw dropping performance by John Vasquez and Judy Aguilar from Cali, Colombia (The 2007 Cabaret World Champions). Notice that they are dancing Colombian style salsa.

Very recent routine by the 5 time world salsa champion Oliver Pineda, Sydney Australia. He is without a doubt one of the most genius and gifted salsa dancer minds in interpreting the music.
